his mark in Bollywood. Then he tried his luck in singing and acting in
Bollywood films. Last year his film 'Good News' came out which did great business.
Recently, his film 'Suraj Par Mangal Bhari' has been released. This is a comedy
movie. Due to the popularity of Hindi movies and Punjabi Hindi mix songs, he is
very popular among hindi speaking people too. But he did not get this
recognition smoothly. It was not easy for a boy from a middle class village to
make a name for himself in the film industry. Daljit Dosanjh himself is from a farming family. As he explains in his
interview, his childhood was spent in financial difficulties. An interview
revealed that he had studied up to the tenth grade and could not continue his education.
He is a resident of Dosanjh village in Jalandhar district of Punjab. His
father's name is Balbir Singh and his mother's name is Sukhvindar Kaur. His
real name is Daljit Singh which was later changed to Daljit Dosanjh. Daljit had been fond of singing since childhood and he used to do many gurubani
in the gurdwara. At that time, hardly anyone would have thought that this guy
doing Gurubani Kirtan would one day overwhelm the Punjabi music industry. The
people who came to the gurdwara heard the voice of this child were amazed. Then
he got opportunities.Gradually, Daljit Dosanjh's talents were recognized and he
stepped into the Punjabi music industry.Daljit is also called 'Urban Paindo' by
his fans. Urban means urban and paindo means pind (village), meaning his fans
consider him a mix of urban and rural. If you know today's Daljit Dosanjh, you
may not even recognize him in his old songs. Everything has changed from his
style to his confidence. However, his path has been full of struggles. In the
early days, he also performed in stage shows and weddings. However, now he says
he does not have time to perform at the wedding. Daljit started his career in the Punjabi music industry. His debut album, Ishq
Da Urna uda, was released in 2004 by Fine Tone Cassette. He then made more
music albums with Fine Tone. His third album 'Smile' became very popular. In
2011, he entered the Punjabi film industry. His first film was The Line of
Punjab. Although the film did not do well, its song 'Lakh 28 Kuri Da' was liked
a lot. Then came Daljit's film 'Janhein Mera Dil Latiya' which did good
business. Daljit Dosanjh was a little disappointed with the failure of his
first film. He told the BBC in an interview that he had decided not to act
after making two films.
"Before the release of my first film, the second film was shot," he
said. Then I thought I would not do the film now, the songs are fine. But, the
second movie was a hit. Then I thought, 'That's fine too.'Daljit then stepped
into Bollywood as a playback singer. He sang in the movie 'Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya'.
Then he also gave his voice to the songs of other films. In 2016, Daljit
Dosanjh was also known for his role in the film 'Urta Punjab'. In it, he worked
with big stars like Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. He also acted in the film
'Flory' with Anushka Sharma and Suraj Sharma in which he played the role of a
singer. In 2018, he played the role of former Indian hockey captain Sandeep
Singh in the film 'Surma'.
Daljit says about his arrival in Bollywood that he was told that 'a turban man
cannot be a hero in Bollywood'.
"I thought if this is the case then I will not do the film," he said.
But then the film offers came to me.I will not change myself for any character.
Whether I get a job or not. I can't stop wearing turbans for movies. 'Daljit
doesn't like to audition. He considers himself a low-spirited person who avoids
attending Bollywood parties. In an interview, although he called all these
things his weakness, he does not want to change himself. Daljit has said many times that English is too hard for him as he tried to
learn it but could not succeed. He explained how he could not give an interview
to Vogue magazine about the movie 'Good News' because of his English.
"I was shocked when he called me to London for a photo shoot," says
Daljit. Photoshoots could be anywhere. There was a one-to-one interview in
English. I quietly stepped aside and left. 'However, the language did not
affect his career much. He has succeeded in the Punjabi and Hindi film industry.
He has also received PTC Punjabi Film Award for 'Jatt and Juliet' and 'Punjab
1984' and Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for 'Urta Punjab'.
